Wolfsberger AC wins cup: Gattermayer scores the winner

Wolfsberger AC is the 2025 Austrian Cup winner. The Carinthians won the final on Thursday evening against league competitor TSV Hartberg with a score of 1-0.

What happened?

The final was very tight due to the double premiere - both Wolfsberg and Hartberg were in a final for the first time - with both teams playing cautiously. In the end, it was striker Angelo Gattermayer who scored the winning goal in the 77th minute with a header from Ervin Omic's cross.

Why is it important for Wolfsberger AC?

With the cup win, Wolfsberg has the chance to achieve the first double win for a Carinthian team: in the league, the Lavanttaler are currently in third place after 28 rounds, three points behind leader Austria Wien.

What's next?

For the Austrian football legend, the cup win is the first title in his coaching career. Donis Avdijaj from finalist Hartberg became the top scorer of the competition, scoring seven goals in six games.
